Group String Classes

Our group classes take place in two community strategic locations to best access and serve the refugee and Raleigh communities we teach. At each location, students participate in instrument specific classes and then chamber groups to focus on ensemble playing, leadership skills, and community building. The Raleigh Music Collective is a chamber ensemble focused program so as children begin got grow musically, they will have additional opportunities to audition for one of our several quartets in residence that operate as our flagship performing groups in the community.

String Classes at Peach Road Cultural Center

In the fall of 2022, we launched a second site in partnership with the City of Raleigh at Peach Road Cultural Center. This site is located in S. Raleigh surrounded by an apartment complex where many refugees are re-homed as well as in close proximity to many of the intermediate and advanced students we had taught in group classes on zoom during COVID.

Classes take place on Tuesday’s from 4:00PM-5:45PM with an option conservatory prep violin/viola class for advanced students 3:30PM-3:50PM

Our beginner violin, viola, and cello classes are currently full. Registration will open late spring/early summer. Returning students or students with past string play experience can sign up here.

String Classes at Cedar Point

We offer free weekly string classes to the children of Cedar Point in partnership with Refugee Hope Partners. A portion of every private lesson payment goes towards funding this program. These children are refugees from countries all over the world. Our work there is central to who we are as an organization and why we became music educators. These classes are open to a limited number of students in the greater Raleigh community. Classes are currently full at this location.

How YOU Can Help!

While a portion of every private lesson payment goes towards funding our group classes, supplies, Squad Saturday scholarships and summer camp scholarships, it does not cover the majority of costs. We are always looking for new champions to help continue to grow the work we do with these children. If you are interested in donating a scholarship for summer camp, or lessons, donating an instrument, or purchasing supplies, please reach out to us at theraleighmusiccollective@gmail.com.
